PISA 2000 was founded in, yes you’ve guessed it the year 2000.
It was the brainchild of Paul Donnelly who along with a large number of fellow POSH was fed up with a certain Mr Fry’s erratic behaviour and disgraceful treatment of what seemed like a starting line- up of assistant managers especially the popular ones.
However since then despite it’s anarchic past PISA 2000 has become a respected group who have the ear of the present owner, they are more than willing to bend that ear too but enjoy a pleasant working relationship with the club, something it is safe to say would never have been imagined all those years ago.
The organisation has a constitution which can be found elsewhere on this site but a part of it is that we do not give money directly to the football club despite our good relations.
This has not stopped us though being at the forefront of many initiatives including leading the way in designing and having built a small disabled area at one end of The Glebe Road Stand.
This was done with the assistance and support of the other supporters groups, The POSH Supporters Trust & Forever POSH who we have an excellent alliance with.
In 2003 we were the organisers of an amazing day at london road to raise money for the family of ex POSH player Steve Cooper who had sadly suddenly passed away at only 39 years of age.
Through contacts with Ade Durham of Talksport many famous ex players from the football world turned up and over £25,000 was raised and presented to his wife and children.
Numerous other charities have received donations including The Free Kicks Foundation, Sarcoma UK, The Pakistan Earthquake Appeal, Prostate Cancer UK as well as many local good causes on a one off basis.
We were at the forefront of The Chris Turner Statue Fund which raised over £100,000 in less that two years after some amazing generosity from POSH fans all over the world and ended up with that magnificent tribute to the great man at his spiritual home.
We have a fantastic HQ based at Charlies in Grove Street where we proudly display a large amount of POSH memorabilia from over the years.
Anyone is welcome to come see us any Saturday pre match when we are open from 11.00, we have good value food and beer for sale, a great atmosphere and friendly welcome is always guaranteed.
Membership is only £5.50 for the season, free for under 18’s or full time students.
Proud to be the independent voice of POSH supporters we have proved we are here for the long term and are confident that we will go from strength to strength as hopefully our beloved football club will too.
